STORY-OUTLINE Patrick Quinn, born in Port Douglas, enlisted on 28/10/1916 in Cairns. He embarked on the "Ayrshire" in Sydney on 24/01/1917, and was taken on strength with the 15th Battalion in Havre on 2/08/1917. Two weeks later, on 16/08/1917, he was killed in action during the Battle of Passchendaele, and buried in Blauwepoortbeck Cemetary, NE of Messines, France. Later he was moved to Messines Ridge British Cemetary, and on 7/07/1920 a photograph of his grave was transmitted to his next of kin, although his medals had not been sent by 1924.
