STORY-OUTLINE | Although born in London and enlisted at Townsville, George Beaven's address was Mossman, obviously working in the district as a labourer at the time when he joined up in February 1916. He was assigned as Trooper in the 2nd Light Horse, leaving Sydney on the Karroo in May 1916. He survived the Middle East engagements of the 2nd Light Horse through to war's end. He returned to Australia and was discharged in May 1919. |
